Edinburgh Airport
After traveling with the rest of the band via ferry and coach to Dunfermline. Alan Stewart and I went to Edinburgh Airport to collect Raymond Nutt and my nephew John Lynch who had flown over. We had just arrived at the airport in time. The Belfast flight had just landed the same time as we arrived. I remember saying to Alan thank god it was on time, this means no waiting around. After a short time the passengers of the Belfast flight started to come through the arrival lounge. We stood there waiting for them to come through but as the last person passed me I said to Alan they must have missed the flight because there was no sign of them. I had no sooner said this, when I heard my name being called over the P A system asking me to contact the arrivals information desk. Of course we went to find out what was going on. As I was approaching the desk I could hear someone shouting, and also I could hear someone singing. I remember thinking to myself what the hell is going on. Just as I arrived at the desk I seen Trevor Mc Dermot ( I now knew were the singing was coming from ) He had flown up from London for the weekend and had a few drinks on the way. We now were at the desk and the shouting was also very clear I could now recognize the voice. Raymond Nutt was in an interview room being questioned by the police about why he was traveling with a child of ten who was not related to him. The receptionist then informed me that the police were questioning Raymond Nutt because they thought he had abducted wee John. On hearing this we found it very amusing and had fell into a fit of laughing. This was made even funnier because Raymond Nutt was still in the background shouting. Needless to say shortly afterwards we got the matter sorted out and were on our way back to Dunfermline shortly afterwards. I don't think Raymond Nutt thought it was funny at the time but we have had many a laughs about it since. Tommy Lynch |
